Following many years of sitting together in temporary spaces, the Zen Centre was established in late 2017 through its members' hard work and dedication.

Since then the space has been transformed from an empty office space to what it is today: a quiet and minimal space right in the heart of the city.

The simplicity of the Zen Centre provides a refuge from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, and helps us to quieten down the mind in zazen.

As well as a space for practice, the Zen Centre is also a space where members and anyone interested in Zen Buddhism can get together and meet socially.

Establishing the Zen Centre has helped us offer a much wider range of activities, which encompass everything that the Zen tradition has to offer; we now run a variety of courses and are able to have intensive retreats (sesshins) here in the space.

Additionally it has helped us increase our engagement with other organisations within the Glasgow area. We regularly participate in Glasgow Doors Open Day festival, and support 'Trees for Life' in its work rewilding the Scottish Highlands, as well as the Simon Community which works to combat homelessness in Scotland. In the Autum of 2020 we participated in the Poverty Alliance campain to demand changes to Scotland's welfare systems so to improve conditions for those living in poverty in Scotland.
