Becoming a member

Everyone is welcome to come along and participate in Zen Centre activities in any way they wish. But most people who come along regularly, choose to become a member of the centre.

If you’ve tried practising independently at home, you’ll know that it’s challenging to sustain a regular sitting practice. Membership is a great way to get more involved in the centre, to strengthen one’s commitment to Buddhist practice and to become part of a Buddhist community.

Membership also supports the work of the Zen Centre and helps us to continue to develop and expand the range of activities we can offer. In this way, you are also supporting the opportunity for others to come along and try out Zen practice.
If you’re interested in finding out more about membership, just get in touch at: info@cloudwaterzen.org

Becoming a formal student

In the Zen tradition, a close working relationship with a teacher has always been one way of getting more into practice and training. As part of this, some people choose to become a formal student: which is a way of deepening one’s commitment to practice and the teaching/tradition.

Becoming a formal student is not a requirement. Rather, it’s a personal choice. If you feel an affinity for the teaching/tradition you might find that the process of becoming a formal student can help to strengthen your own practice and commitment.

Get in touch if you have questions or would like to find out more (see the FAQs section of the website too for a little more information) through the email address above or contact Sensei directly.
